As passionate members of the San Diego community, we at New Leaf Biofuel are always looking for opportunities to give back to our city in ways that go beyond biofuel and job creation. In the spirit of the season of giving, we wanted to highlight an organization that is very close to the heart of our CEO, Jennifer Case. The organization is SAY San Diego, standing for Social Advocates for Youth, and it is an incredibly impactful and far-reaching program that is dedicated to helping youth and families in a holistic sense. What this means is that rather than honing in on one aspect of troubles facing local youth, they have services that address everything from school programs, mental health, family strengthening, substance abuse prevention, and more.
“I’ve been participating in SAY programs for years,” said Case, explaining further that “it’s rare that an organization can have such a wide and profound impact on a community, and I really believe that they are making San Diego stronger from the ground up, which is something I and my company can strongly relate to and align with.”
Considering the impact that COVID-19 has had on every tier of society this year, SAY San Diego’s work is more necessary than ever. Without the structure and social outlet of traditional in-school classes, many families are in limbo. Thankfully, SAY San Diego has not taken the year off, but stepped up as a resource for COVID-19 information and support.
